In order to promote the culture of peace in the university environment, Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila started activities of the Peace Week, through the Office of University Human Rights, the Office of Gender Equality, the Office of Promotion and Cultural Heritage and the School of Plastic Arts “Prof. Rubén Herrera”.
On behalf of our President Salvador Hernández Vélez, the chair of UAdeC General Secretariat Office, Miguel Angel Rodríguez Calderón emphasized that it will always be very important for the University to continue promoting values among those who are part of this community.
He added that, since its inception, Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila has aimed to train women and men of good, as well as high quality professionals, citizens committed to their social environment, being positive agents of change.
Magda Yadira Robles Garza, Defender of University Human Rights, said that, with the inauguration of the Piece of Peace, university students are invited to join with the commitment of daily practice of values, promoting the culture of peace within campuses.
In this activity, all community members are invited to place a colored ribbon representative of each value to promote the culture of peace, thus spreading the values that the University has embodied through its Ethics and Conduct Regulations.
As part of the peace week activities, we enjoyed “Peace Guidelines” an excellent recital of great piano works performed by Master Eliezer Jáuregui Arrazate. He is also the President of the Office of Promotion and Cultural Heritage, and shared the history of each of the pieces and the impact they had within the musical world.
On Tuesday, October 20th at 7p.m., the Artistic Exhibition “Pieces of Peace”, work of the artistic collection of the School of Plastic Arts “Professor Rubén Herrera”, will be up for display in the Lobby of the Rectory building, in the Infoteca Torreón and in the Theater of the City of Monclova.
On Wednesday October 21st at 8p.m. the Concert organ of the Latvian pianist and organist, Nika Jonicenoka, will be presented through the University’s Facebook account. On Thursday, October 22nd at 7 p.m., we will have the International Jewish Film Festival, which will remain until October 26th, with a film by different directors every day, starting with the German film Los Invisibles; transmissions will be via the Zoom platform.
On Friday, October 23rd at 10:00 a.m., we will be holding the conference: Building Peace in the University Context, with the participation of Dr. Elvia González del Pliego, President of the Gender and Inclusion Program of the Ibero-American University.
Dr. Francisco Gorjón Gómez, Director of the PhD in Alternative Dispute Resolution Media at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, and the Defender of University Human Rights of the UAdeC, also participate through the University Facebook and Microsoft Teams.
