UAdeC Invites to the Congress “Rights of Peasants”

Through the CISE Socioeconomic Research Center, Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila in conjunction with Universidad de Sevilla, Universidad Autónoma Agraria Antonio Narro, the Geneva Academy and the Center Lascaux sur les Transitions invite the public to the Convention “Rights of Peasants”, which will take place virtually from December 9 to 11, 2020.

The convention will be broadcast on the Socioeconomic Research Center Facebook page @ciseuadec, and on the Microsoft Teams platform, those interested should keep an eye on the publication of the links to access the sessions.

In order to promote research initiatives and the adoption of public policies on peasant rights, this convention aims to generate knowledge and dialogue among the international scientific community, international networks, as well as between key political and social actors in the field.

In addition, it seeks to contribute to a better international regulation for access to land, water, seeds and rural employment, ensuring their sustainability and productive value, through dialogue and clarifying points of convenience and divergence to reach joint conclusions, promoting collaboration and cooperation among participants.

Likewise, the purpose is to strengthen the forms and mechanisms with which the Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and other people who work in the rural world of the United Nations General Assembly can be implemented nationally and internationally.

The four main issues to be addressed are: seeds, water, land and work, since each one implies great challenges and possibilities to advance as a society and build the viability of peasant reproduction and that of society as a whole.

The activities will begin on December 9, at 8:00 am, first with the welcome by Miguel Ángel Riquelme Solís, our State Governor, Manolo Jiménez Salinas, Mayor of Saltillo, and Salvador Hernández Vélez, President of our University.
